For over a year, we ha worked on one of the most beautiful and demanding projects in Studio Wiegers’ 13-year history. Culminating in a book spanning approximately 400 pages, titled ‘Biourbanism – Cities as nature | A resilience model for Anthromes.’ Our contribution ranged from project management and research to data visualisation and design.

‘Biourbanism’ was written by the Australian landscape architect Adrian McGregor, founder and chief design officer of McGregor Coxall, an award-winning, multi-disciplinary design firm with offices in Australia and the United Kingdom. Adrian McGregor was selected as one of Sydney’s 100 Most Creative People and was awarded the Urban Design Award by the Australian Prime Minister. He has designed new cities, given lectures, and completed award-winning projects worldwide.
“I knew that the infographics were crucial to tell the story and make it understandable. So, I found a Dutch designer who’s just outside Amsterdam, Erik, and he and his team worked with me for the last year to effectively pull that together.”
Adrian McGregor in Episode 26 of the Property Marketing Podcast.
The concept of Biourbanism stems from ecological science, urban planning, and landscape architecture. It is based on ten interconnected systems that collectively determine cities’ health, prosperity, and resilience. Landscape architects, urban planners, mayors, officials, and other stakeholders can view cities from a new perspective by implementing this concept. It enables them to create cities that are healthier and more resilient.
For over a year, we’ve had the privilege to work on the concept, look and feel, layout, and all the infographics, maps, graphs, and icons this book contains. In addition to the creative process, the excellent collaboration with the team of cartographers, writers, editors, and, of course, Adrian himself was a wonderful part of this project. We’re proud to say that it resulted in a fantastic end product if we say so ourselves!
“They have this ability to take data and illustrate it in a simple way. So, this incredible Dutch sensibility to design and inform.”
